As most people will be aware, the Club has been closed since March due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
Maintenance of the bowls green has continued throughout the period and it looks to be in very good condition.
With the slight easing of lockdown restrictions, the Club has, since 16th May, been able to open the green for limited practice (roll ups), although the Clubhouse and other activities remain closed until further notice.
We have started this process with a set of rules that are actually more stringent than Bowls England guidance recommends to bowls clubs. This is to ensure the safety of our members but partly because we’re feeling our way.
So far feedback from those using the green in this way is very positive. They have found the process easy to follow and have been complementary on the condition of the green.
As confidence builds, and guidance changes, we will be looking to move to a more relaxed operation of the green and its surrounds. We have now opened up the green for roll ups between four members from different households with additional appropriate safety measures.
Although social distancing has to be respected, and is likely to be here for some time to come, we look forward to enabling more people to come to the Club and enjoy the fresh air!
For those of you who haven’t been able to visit the Club for some time, you will find some differences when you get there. The view from the Clubhouse to the far side of the green is somewhat clearer, thanks to Magic Martin and his trusty chainsaw!
